I would like info on service/ visit activities for the Collin Oaks Assisted Living Center and/or other related facilities. [Preferably something later than sunrise though, my dear early-bird friends.] :)

[My Aunt (like a 2nd mom) passed away, alone, in a nursing home in Minneapolis this summer. It kills me that I couldn't afford to visit more than once in the past two years. I've considered it before, and still feel compelled to make visits locally. At least to try it once. Others may be at a similar long-distance disadvantage with their loved ones. Hoping to buddy-up with a fellow Lion for the first visit, though, as I've never done anything like this before and do feel a little awkward about it. Anything in the works?...]

I understand that we now have a DVD of the Parade. It would be helpful to list the proceedure for purchasing the DVD. I would like to purchase one.

There are 2 special events coming up that pertain to blindness:
1. March 8, 2008 - Beeping Easter Egg Hunt for the little ones (blind): Teepee Hill @ White Rock Lake, 9 am - 12 noon
2. April 15, 2008 - Division for Blind Services and American Federation of the Blind are jointly hosting an event at AFB, 11030 Ables Lane, Dallas TX 75229, from 1-4 p.m. We are trying to get businesses to see what great technology is available for people who are blind, so that they are more receptive to hiring blind individuals!
I hope this is appropriate to put on this blog, but since you all are involved with blindness issues, I figured it would be!
Thanks so much, Lion Clare

I agree with Cyndie that this blog should not be the main communication for the club. I see it as a fun supplement to the regular channels, and not as a substitute. I think we have already run into one of the drawbacks of internet communication in the club, and we all need to be very careful about what we say on the blog -- it is too easy to hurt somebody's feelings without meaning to.

I think Mike Marvel finding a typo is GREAT. He is a remarkable fellow. Hopefully this will get us to check the web page more often. It is a great site.... We just need to use it more.

If we had the fancy toys that Lion Mike does, we might have found the typos, too. :-) I do like the blog feature. However, I would prefer that this not become the main means of communication within the club. Being perfectly honest, after spending all day at work on a computer, the last thing I want to do is come home at night and spend my evenings on one.

I do like the website.
