The Annual Plano Lions Scholarship Program
Since 1978, the Plano Lions Club has made scholarship funding a top priority. We understand that for many talented students, the cost of higher education remains the single greatest hurdle to achieving their potential. Our program is unique because it emphasizes not only academic achievement but also the student’s history of **community service and civic involvement**. We seek out students who embody the Lions spirit: dedication, integrity, and a commitment to serve others.
How the Program Works
- π₯
**Application Window:** Applications open every January for all Plano ISD high school seniors. - π€
**Review Process:** A committee of Lions members and Plano educators anonymously reviews submissions based on essays and service hours. - π°
**Funding:** Awards are distributed directly to the student’s accredited university or trade school in the fall semester.
The funds for these scholarships are primarily raised through our major charity events, ensuring that community effort directly supports student success. Over the past decade alone, we have distributed over **$200,000** in aid, changing the trajectory of dozens of young lives. This long-term financial commitment is a testament to our belief that a strong community starts with well-supported youth.
Are You Ready to Lead? Join the Leos Club!
The Leos Club is the official youth organization sponsored by the Plano Lions. Designed for young people aged 12 to 18, Leos provides a hands-on opportunity to engage in service projects, develop leadership skills, and network with committed professionals (Lions). If you are passionate about helping others, growing personally, and earning service hours for college applications, the Leos Club is your platform for action.
